GP - Bulk Billing | DPA | MM1 | Northern Adelaide SA
- AUD $250,000 – $500,000 per year
- Australia, South Australia
- Permanent
A commonwealth-funded GP Super Clinic in Northern Adelaide is looking to welcome up to four UK-trained GPs over the next 12 months. This is a genuinely unusual opportunity — a large, multidisciplinary primary care centre with university affiliation, strong earnings progression, on-site supervision for ESP candidates, and a clinical lead who is a practising RACGP examiner personally invested in supporting UK-trained GPs through the transition.
Location & registration status
- Suburb: Northern Adelaide SA
- DPA status: DPA-approved (Medicare provider number available from day one)
- MMM classification: MM1
This suburb sits around 25km from the Adelaide CBD, with direct road and rail access into the city. The area combines excellent value-for-money housing with strong community amenities, proximity to wine country (Barossa Valley 30 minutes away), and easy beach access. Adelaide consistently ranks among the world's most liveable cities — excellent schools, short commutes, meaningfully lower cost of living than Sydney or Melbourne, and a pace of life that many UK GPs find restorative after the NHS. The clinic's nearest hospital (Lyell McEwin) is a major tertiary centre and a realistic employer for clinical-spouse candidates too.
About the practice
The clinic is a commonwealth-funded GP Super Clinic — built under the federal Super Clinic program, government funded but privately operated, and affiliated with the University of Adelaide. The facility is multidisciplinary by design, with on-site pharmacy, visiting specialists, and a 34,000-patient active database. The clinic is open 7 days a week, with 21 GPs currently on the roster (mostly part-time) and capacity to grow.
The clinical lead is a Fellow of the RACGP and a currently-practising RACGP examiner, which gives incoming UK GPs an unusually well-connected supervisor — particularly valuable for ESP candidates. The lead has previously worked clinically in the UK NHS, so understands the transition on a personal level. Since the lead has run the practice, two UK-trained GPs have registered through the service (one via PEP historically, one arriving via ESP imminently).
The area has a growing community with significant new housing development, a large young-family and migrant population, and genuine clinical variety. Because several current GPs are transitioning to regional centres over the next 12 months, there is real room for incoming GPs to build substantial patient bases quickly.
Package & earnings
- 70/30 billing split in your favour (30% service fee)
- AUD $200/hr guaranteed income for the first 3 months while you build your patient base
- Year one typical earnings: circa AUD $300,000 (at 4 patients per hour, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week)
- Established earnings (year two onwards): AUD $500,000–$600,000 for a full-time GP at 6–7 patients per hour
- Federal bulk billing incentive of 6.25% (approximately $20,000–$30,000 per year additional)
- Care package billing at $150 per package, plus item-list procedural work with 10% uplift on Sundays
- Guaranteed full patient load from day one — the clinic has existing unmet demand
- AUD $20,000 relocation package (repayable on early contract exit)
- Full-time or part-time considered
Billing model
Bulk billing — bulk billing across the patient base, with access to government incentive structures on top of standard billings.
Visa & AHPRA support
Full end-to-end support through AHPRA registration, with on-site supervision capacity for Expedited Specialist Pathway (ESP) candidates — up to 6 months of supervision provided directly by the clinical lead, who is a practising RACGP examiner. 482 visa sponsorship offered (default 2-year term, extendable to 4 years for candidates with family circumstances requiring it), with full support through to permanent residency.
Our team will handle the heavy lifting on AHPRA paperwork, visa timelines, and ECFMG/EPIC verification, working alongside a practice that has already supported UK GPs through both PEP and ESP pathways.
Who we're looking for
- UK-trained GP with MRCGP (or working toward CCT — we can advise on timing)
- Suited to both fellowed GPs and those needing ESP supervision
- Interest in broad-scope community general practice — young families, chronic disease, migrant health
- Any sub-specialty interest welcomed — the clinic can accommodate and build clinical work around incoming GPs' strengths
- Long-term mindset — the practice is investing in sustained growth over 12 months and looking for GPs who want to establish real patient bases
Next steps
Send your CV to aus@bdiresourcing.com or get in touch to schedule a call with our team — we'll talk through the role, the AHPRA pathway, visa options, and what life actually looks like once you're here.
Even if you're still a year or two away from relocating, it's worth an early conversation — the AHPRA and visa process takes time to do properly, and this is a role where early planning helps lock in the strongest earnings trajectory.
